I Love Tim Berners-Lee
Etched glass heart
2000
This piece hangs from the drivers rear-view mirror. The image on the heart is an etched portrait of Tim Berners-Lee, credited as the founder of the World Wide Web. Much of Nick Crowe’s work concentrates both on the computer as a portal for art, and also the mechanics of computer technology. While the functions and components of computers are beyond the comprehension of most, the mechanics still rely on light being refracted through glass. ‘I Love Tim Berners-Lee’ marries very succinctly the abstract ideas of computer technology to the human input responsible for this technology.
