The Essor Gallery Project Space, London from 16 to 22 January 2002

Has it really been two years? It only seems like yesterday when I first met Jason Brown (the owner of cab gallery) and Paul Stolper (art dealer/curator). Since then we at Fiux have been avid fans of this important art enterprise and for those who aren't familiar with the project, the Cab Gallery, launched in September 1999 has existed to exhibit site-specific artworks on the inside and outside of a working London taxi. Since its incarnation, the Cab Gallery has even ventured outside of London, to Aspex Gallery in Portsmouth, From Space in Manchester (curated by Flux's Mike Dawson), and The Ikon in Birmingham. It has boasted over thirty international artists, some established, others emerging, like Layla Curtis, Jim Medway, Bob & Roberta Smith, Die Kunst and Nick Crowe. So to pay homage to the Cab Gallery (as it will be your only opportunity), it will be parked up inside the newly converted 'Essor Gallery Project Space' (with the meter still running) and will present the complete catalogue of works exhibited. So go and experience the artworks enjoyed by thousands of passengers and gallery visitors.
