JESS MALLOCK

Portrait of Jason Brown
This is the first work made for Cab Gallery that uses directly the taxi
driver as subject matter. Set in the tip-up seat, the colour photograph
is of Jason Brown, wearing a hat and coat and standing in front of a brick
wall. Whilst on taxi journeys the passenger seldom learns very much about
their driver, and can only form a picture from the back and what they
see in the driver's rear-view mirror. Here they are unknowingly and unwittingly
confronted by a very open straight-forward portrait of the curator of
Cab Gallery.
